Studying a foreign language language is a weapon in the struggle of life and has numerous rewards in India. It is interesting, exciting and beneficial at all ages. Everybody have a different reason to choose foreign language as a career. It will definitely benefit your career prospects, school and college education, emigration, studying abroad, travel and pursuing hobbies and interest. It is very difficult to choose a best foreign language you want to learn. It totally depends on the purpose of the person learning the language. As it takes a lot of time, effort and persistence to learn a new language it is important to study a language that has more career scope and demand in India.

Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, Arabic and French are the top four foreign languages with the most speakers. Japanese and German are also very popular in India as they offer lots of job and career opportunities in India and abroad. 

There are many foreign language courses in Delhi University (DU) and JNU. Following the exploit of globalization, knowing just the mother tongue is no longer enough in our country. Your engineering degree or MBA degree may no longer earn you as much cash as a foreign language career would, especially if it is Mandarin,  German, French, Japanese, Spanish, Arabic or Russian.

There are many foreign language jobs and career opportunities in India especially in Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Chennai. Academic qualification and proficiency in any foreign language opens the gate for career in sectors such as hospitality and tourism, embassies, custom and diplomatic service, entertainment, public relations and mass communication, international organisations, publishing, translation and interpretation, etc. Additionally, various multinational corporate (MNC) and IT require candidates possessing excellent language skills in French, German, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, Korean, Portuguese, etc. Some new avenues such as foreign language analyst and assistant jobs, online content writers, technical translators or decoders too have come up in a huge way.

Many International organisations such as the United Nations Organization (UNO), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and numerous Indian national organisations such as Ministry of External Affairs, Reserve Bank of India (RBI), etc also require professionals who have specialisation in foreign languages.

Foreign language professionals earn attractive job salary depending upon the work and the organization. Professionals working for PR or Marketing Department of MNC’s can earn Rs 30,000 – 50,000 per month. Foreign language teachers can earn any salary in the range of Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000 a month.  Translators can receive Rs 250 to Rs 500 per page. Also an interpreter who is paid on an hourly basis can earn atleast Rs 2000 to Rs 4000 per hour.

BEST PLACES TO LEARN FOREIGN LANGUAGE COURSES IN DELHI

  • Delhi University : This university is an absolute favorite of secondary school pass out students as it offers students a chance to learn foreign languages and pursue a bachelor’s or masters in the field. There are many foreign language courses in delhi university colleges. You can learn a variety of popular languages such as French, German, Japanese and Spanish while some not so common ones like Polish and Serbian are also taught in some colleges.

 

  •  Jawaharlal Nehru University : There is hardly any other university like JNU which offers such great choices of languages when it comes to learning a foreign language in India. Here you can learn languages such as Spanish, French, Russian, Japanese and Chinese. Not only can you learn foreign languages but you can also get placement with these courses.

 

  • Jamia Millia Islamia University : A popular university located in Delhi, Jamia Millia Islamia offers diploma and graduate courses in languages such as Russian, Spanish and Portuguese. It started in the year 1920, this university has around 400 students enrolled in various language courses. Passing from here one can start earning handsomely as a freelance content writer or work with companies  offering services such certified translations.

 

  • IGNOU : Indira Gandhi National Open University also offer the foreign language courses to the students in India and its fee structure is also very flexible. The university offers students a graduate, postgraduate and a doctorate degree in Arabic and French. It also gives out diplomas in other popular languages such as German. The university offers active college life aside from great teaching facilities which make learning absolute enjoyable.
